The Canadian Bureau for International Education (CBIE) today released Canada’s global report on the state of international education in Canada.
“We’ve always had a mandate to share with our members and colleagues the latest statistics, long and short-term trends on our sector,” said Karen McBride, President and CEO of CBIE, launching the report at CBIE’s 47th annual conference. “Together we are building a comprehensive resource that reflects the current opportunities and challenges facing international education in Canada today.”
Did you know?
- Canada as an education destination: In 2011, Canada enrolled about 5% of internationally mobile students, making it the 7th most popular host country.
- The Numbers are Growing: Canada’s international student population increased by 11% from 2011 to 2012, and 94% between 2001 and 2012.
- Satisfaction Guaranteed: CBIE’s 2013 International Student Survey demonstrates the satisfaction level remains high with 91% of students either very satisfied or satisfied with their study experience in Canada and 96% of students indicating that they would recommend Canada as a study destination.
- Increasingly a First Choice Option: Only 20% of respondents indicated that they did not apply for studies in any country other than Canada – this is half of last year’s percentage suggesting that Canada is gaining popularity and increasingly is a top choice destination
