Presenters will have 20 minutes to present and 10 minutes for a Q&A period, and must ensure that their poster is setup in time for their scheduled presentation time, and it must be torn down before the next schedule presentation.

Meeting spaces for these presentations will be announced at a later time.

AFTER THE JOURNEY, IT’S THE AFTER JOURNEY: BUILDING ON EXCHANGE EXPERIENCE THROUGH STUDENT LEADERSHIP

The journey does not end when a student gets back from exchange. Our program has developed a model to create a cycle of learning through returned student programming. Returned exchange students are invited to participate in creating and implementing student development based curriculum in an international learning context.

TUNISIAN UNIVERSITY AND ITS INTERNATIONAL DIMENSION    (bilingual session)

The success of a university is measured, among other things, by its international dimension and partnerships. Despite its limited resources, the Tunisian university has materialized the internationalisation aspect by building several MOU and cooperation agreements in the field of higher education and scientific research, with several countries.

La réussite d’une université se mesure, entre autres, de son ouverture internationale. En dépit de ses moyens limités, l’université tunisienne a su matérialiser cette ouverture par plusieurs accords de coopération, en matière d’enseignement supérieur et recherche scientifique, avec plusieurs partenaires internationaux.

CROSS CULTURAL COMPETENCY DEVELOPMENT THROUGH CULTURAL INTELLIGENCE

Students embarking on international experiences return home with life changing experiences that help develop their professional competencies. But are they able to effectively articulate these competencies, and thereby enhance their employability? This session will discuss how cultural intelligence can be an effective tool to achieve this goal.

GOING BEYOND IMMEDIATE OUTCOMES: EVALUATING THE IMPACT OF AWARDS ON INSTITUTIONS

The tracer study (undertaken during the summer of 2013) of award beneficiaries during the 1995-2005 period uses Mayne’s (2001) contribution analysis framework to assess and explain the contributions of IDRC’s F&A program to reseach and policy.

Nous utiliserons la narrativité numérique pour en discuter.

YES! MEANS YES: SKILLS FOR CROSS-CULTURAL SEXUAL ASSAULT PREVENTION

Learn how to create effective cross cultural sexual assault programming and norms for outgoing and incoming students based off the enthusiastic consent and bystander intervention models. Based on recent research into predatory behaviour and undetected rapists, this presentation presents theories and skills for IE practitioners and educators.

ASSESSING TRANSNATIONAL EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMS: THE GOOD, THE BAD, AND THE UGLY

The rise of Transnational Education (TNE) provides more international opportunities for students, expands and changes the terrain of global education, and offers unique opportunities for higher educational institutions. Study abroad, short-term language learning, and joint degree programs are just some of the many variations of TNE. Many students who have completed part or all of a transnational educational program are looking for transfer credit at home or entry into a graduate admissions program. This session will define TNE and discuss key factors that may complicate the environment for university admission officers, transfer credit coordinators, international credential assessors, and institutions wishing to partner with other universities outside of Canada. Through case studies, the presenters will offer practical methods for evaluating these educational credentials and determining valid institutional recognition in a fair and realistic manner.

The NSCC International blog is a tool that promotes and articulates international learning experiences for stuents and employees but is also used as a major part of “portfolio learning”. Discover how we engage, encourage reflection and use blogging as an effective tool in our marketing strategy.
